MY RESEARCH

My lab develops novel computational and statistical methods for the accurate and efficient analysis of eDNA metagenomics and metabarcoding data.

C-MĀIKI SYNERGY

By leveraging cutting-edge techniques in eDNA analysis, my lab aims to enhance our understanding of microbial communities and their dynamics across various environments. This work aligns closely with C-MAIKI's mission to advance microbial research and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. My lab collaborates with other experts to apply our methods to a wide range of projects, from monitoring biodiversity and ecosystem health to tracking the spread of pathogens and studying the impacts of climate change. By developing more accurate and efficient tools for eDNA analysis, we aim to contribute to the broader goals of C-MAIKI, pushing the boundaries of microbial research and promoting innovative solutions to global challenges.

IMPACT TO HAWAII

Hawaii's unique and fragile ecosystems make it a critical location for biodiversity research and conservation efforts. My lab's research on eDNA metagenomics and metabarcoding provides powerful tools for monitoring and protecting these ecosystems. By accurately identifying species and their interactions within the environment, we can gain a deeper understanding of Hawaii's biodiversity and develop strategies to preserve it.
